Labor and Employee Relations
What We Do
Illinois State University has sixteen collective bargaining units covering approximately 1700 employees. Human Resources is responsible for managing all aspects of these bargaining units, including the following:
- Plan, cost, and negotiate all labor agreements
- Interpret and administer all negotiated agreements
- Interpret University policies and applicable employment law
- Serve as hearing officers for grievance processes
- Serve as hearing officers for civil service discipline
- Create and cultivate positive Labor/Management Relations
- Coach and counsel Supervisors of represented and non-represented employees on grievances, discipline, performance improvement, etc.
