Eligibility

Minimum Hours Requirement

Student employees who work for the University during the fall/spring semesters must be enrolled at Illinois State for at least part-time (6 undergraduate or 5 graduate credit hours) during the semester of employment.

Students who wish to work for the University through the summer months must be enrolled at Illinois State for at least part-time (6 undergraduate or 5 graduate credit hours) during the preceding spring or following fall semester. Student employees are not required to be enrolled in summer semester hours in order to be employed by the University.

Spring graduates who met minimum hours during the spring semester may continue to work through the following summer. Their student employment must end prior to the start of the fall semester.

I-9 Forms

All student employees must have a valid I-9 Employment Eligibility form on file with the University within the first three (3) days of employment. A student who has previously worked for the University will need to complete a new I-9 form only if there has been a major semester break in employment or if the student’s work authorization date has expired.

All international student employees must complete their I-9 form in Human Resources in the Nelson Smith Building Room 101. You will need valid documentation to to prove work authorization eligibility.
