Paid Time Off

Paid time off may be available to faculty and staff at Illinois State University. For more information on the types of paid leave available, please review the appropriate policy below. Any questions may be directed to the Office of Human Resources.

For employees eligible to earn vacation time, maximum balances allowed are based on the following (chart is based on 37.5 standard weekly hours and 1.00 FTE - Full Time Equivalency):

Release Time

Release time is time away from work with pay. Release time may be approved for:

  • Conducting personal business in offices such as the Office of Human Resources, Office of Disability Concerns, Office of Equal Opportunity, Ethics, and Access, etc. 
  • Participating in Wellness activities, attending University events, attending University sponsored development programs, etc.

No pay is provided to employees who participate in such activities outside of their normal work schedule. In all cases, release time is granted by the supervisor based on operating needs of the unit.
