Classifying Positions
The Employment Unit works in partnership with all colleges and administrative units to support the fair and consistent evaluation of jobs. Each position is assigned to a classification based on the assigned duties, responsibilities, and requirements of the job as stated in the job description.
How We Help
The Employment Unit will assist with:
- Developing job descriptions and appropriately classifying vacant positions based on departmental needs
- Reviewing existing job descriptions when duties have changed in order to determine the appropriate classification
For grant funded positions, please call the Employment Unit in the pre-award stage to determine appropriate job classification and compensation for type of grant work being performed. This will need to be completed before you move further with your grant.
